Thanksgiving is notorious for treats, including candy, apple cider, and candied desserts. Here are a few ways to have a healthy Thanksgiving:
Make a healthy deal with your kids: For every piece of candy that they want to eat, they must have a piece of fruit or vegetable beforehand. This will teach them to get “full” on good food instead of on junk food.
If you’re going to be drinking apple cider at the apple orchard, water down the cider by mixing ˝ cup of water and ˝ cup of cider. This will reduce the sugar content in the cup of cider.
If you’re baking Thanksgiving desserts, try substituting agave nectar or honey for sugar. You can also bake with gluten free or organic flour, and use dried fruits instead of chocolates.
