How to Reduce Jaw Clenching at Night
If you wake up with a headache or if you know that you clench your jaw at night, here are some tips to reduce the pain: - Before you go to bed, try doing some neck stretches. Drop your right ear to your right shoulder, and breathe into the left side of your neck. Repeat on the other side.
- While you’re lying down before you fall asleep, consciously try to keep your top and bottom teeth separate from each other. Create space between the top and bottom teeth.
- When you wake up in the morning, if you notice tightness in your jaw, try to press along your jawbone and even use lotion to give yourself a mini massage to loosen up the muscles. Over time they may have become chronically tight, so it’s important to loosen them up daily.
