In upward facing dog, do your shouldres feel hunched up to your ears? Does your low back hurt? Here are some tips to improve your next upward facing dog:
Lying on your stomach, place your hands next to your chest. Engage your abs.
Slowly lift your upper body up and try to arch your upper back – reach your chest forward and up, and gently tilt your head back. Release your shoulders down and bring your shoulder blades back and towards the center of your upper back.
Keep hugging your elbows in towards your sides and continue to bring your shoulders down and shoulder blades down your back. Breathe into your chest. It doesn’t matter how high you lift up; instad, focus on reaching your chest forward and relaxing your shoulders down while engaging your abs to support your low back.
