While our goal is to do our part in giving back to the community and helping those among us who are less fortunate, we are most passionate about the environment and women’s health issues. Not only does YOGAaccessories.com plant a tree for every order, and donate a percent of our profits to breast cancer research, we also try to help out many very special people and organizations trying to bring yoga to those who might benefit most from it, but might not otherwise have a chance to try without the right equipment.
YOGAaccessories.com recognizes the dedication to health and wellness put forth by non-profit organizations and educational institutions worldwide. While this effort should be applauded, in many cases resources are scarce or simply non-existent. YOGAaccessories.com feels that the health and well being of individuals should not suffer due to limited funds and/or resources. YOGAaccessories.com is proud to support not for profit charitable organizations by providing supplies at our cost, and in some cases at no cost at all. Through a partnership with Trees for the Future, we plant a tree for every order placed. While it has always been our goal to offer our customers the best performing yoga products at the best prices on the market -- we felt we could and should do even more. We looked for a partner to help us give back to the earth and found Trees for the Future to be the right choice. What we like about Trees for the Future is that they work with local communities on projects that are environmentally and economically sustainable. They are not about going in and dictating what they are going to do, doing it and walking away. They engage the local community which leads to a project that can continue long after Trees for the Future has left. Trees for the Future works to develop and implement programs to improve living standards for the participants, by the careful management, rather than the exploitation, of our natural resources.
Since 1989, Trees for the Future has been helping communities around the world plant trees. Through seed distribution, agroforestry training, and their country programs, they have empowered rural groups to restore tree cover to their lands. Planting trees protects the environment and helps to preserve traditional livelihoods and cultures for generations. Most communities around the world recognize that they need to plant trees on their degraded lands if they are to improve their lives. Trees for the Future provides technical knowledge on agroforestry and sustainable development, along with planting materials so that communities can return their degraded lands and struggling farms back to sustainable production.
Beneficial trees minimize soil erosion, supply forage for animals, and provide a source of fuelwood, but planting trees is difficult when the canopy has disappeared, topsoil has been eroded, and the climate and growing conditions have changed. Through their network of technicians, volunteers, and community leaders world-wide, their program reaches remote areas and gives local people the knowledge and ability to rehabilitate their environment. Trees for the Future has helped thousands of communities in Central America, Africa, and Asia improve their livelihoods and their environment by planting nearly 50 million trees. Trees for the Future calculates that these trees remove approximately one million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year.

The mission of The
Breast Cancer Research Foundation® is to achieve prevention and a cure
for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for
innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers
worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health.
A minimum of 85 cents of every dollar they raise goes to research and
awareness programs. A global approach is critical since public health
indicators suggest that by 2020, 70 percent of all breast cancers cases
will be in developing countries. Some collaborations are between U.S.-based
researchers working with significant populations of women with breast
cancer and oncologists and cancer researchers based in other countries.
Other projects are initiated locally but have international implications;
they range from novel laboratory research about the molecular basis
of breast cancer, to new approaches to improving and standardizing patient
care. The goal of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® is to be able
to offer better outcomes to women with breast cancer, and to prevent
healthy women from developing it, no matter where they live.

The Wellness Community
is a non-profit organization that provides cancer patients with free
services such as group and individual therapy, training in nutrition,
meditation, visualization, chi kung, and yes YOGA! The Wellness
Community utilizes the Patient Active model of recovery, which involves
the cancer patient as an active part in his or her own recovery process.
One aspect of the Patient Active model is to participate in stress reduction
activities such as yoga. Yet yoga provides the two-fold purpose
of stress management and exercise, both of which have been shown to
facilitate the recovery process.

Domestic violence does not begin with the first hit; it often starts with jealousy and emotional abuse. How do we know to call it "domestic violence" rather than "a bad relationship?" Well, if it's just a bad relationship, then either partner is not afraid of the other and both feel safe to leave or break up at any time. Domestic violence (or dating abuse) involves a pattern of coercive behaviors and tactics used to instill fear in a person. These tactics include threats and intimidating and manipulating behavior that emotionally, physically, or sexually hurt an intimate partner. The purpose of the abuse is to establish and maintain power and control over the other person. It takes tremendous courage for a battered woman to walk away from her home and into a shelter. Often she leaves behind not only her abuser but also her family, friends, neighbors, job, and other sources of love and support. Imagine just for a moment your life without these or similar comforts. It’s almost unimaginable – perhaps equally as painful as the abuse and violence left behind.
At this shelter, they strive to create a welcoming environment where the residents can experience peace of mind and a sense of safety. They offer counseling and support groups that allow the residents to express their feelings about the violence they have endured. Those who find themselves “without the words” are encouraged to participate in art therapy, dance therapy and psychodrama.
Their primary goal is to provide the safety, support and encouragement that allow each woman the opportunity to reclaim the power and control in her life.

Kula for Karma is a leading 501(c)3 charitable organization that offers the healing benefits of yoga and other relaxation, stress-relieving treatment methods to those who otherwise would have no access to yoga and its emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits. Our services are offered at no cost to the participant and taught by uniquely and specifically trained yoga instructors, each with their own gifts, talents, and passion.
Everyday, our programs transform the lives of an unprecedented diverse group of people.
