Trend Alert: AntiGravity Aerial Yoga

September 13, 2013

Savasana in a hammock? Count us in! AntiGravity Aerial Yoga is a new type of yoga that features a studio full of hammocks instead of yoga mats! Like the Cirque De Soleil, yoga and acrobatics are incorporated into one class where body-freeing inverted poses are assumed suspended off of the floor on a hammock swing. The swings hold up to 1,000 pounds and will give you the sensation of flying! Defy gravity and free the spirit. Studios are specifically designed for this type of exercise and typically accommodate different skill levels depending on the class (restorative is beginner level; 'flying fitness' is more advanced). Prices are $20 a pop, so it's not that much more expensive than a typical yoga class. If you're like me, always looking for different ways to move my body, you can understand the appeal. Unwind -- literally -- and improve balance, posture, agility, and coordination.
