Relaxation and Rejuvenation


Combining our props with some of our aromatherapy accessories lead to quite a blissful afternoon. Just a little extra break in your day can reduce stress and tension, making you a happier person! If you are always on-the-go, it’s just as important (if not more) to cut out time for yourself as well as your work. Just 15-30 minutes can make all the difference in the world.

Last week in the Yoga Accessories offices in Richmond, we put our products to the test! Here are a few suggestions on how to add some vigor to a slow day, or relax from a hectic day at the office.

For both a bolt of energy or relaxation, I used the following products:


To create a relaxing atmosphere, I used a cushiony bed made from our Extra Heavy Recycled Mexican Blanket, folded in half. Then, I placed our Large Silk Eye Pillow, scented with lavender filling, in the microwave for thirty seconds. The scented eye pillows are stuffed with flax seed and lavender, but the sweet scent of lavender sometimes gets lost over time. So, for good measure, I gave it an added spritz of Conscious Color’s essential oil-based aromatherapy oil, Color Aroma in “Pale Blue”. Aromatherapy has been known to decrease illnesses in certain individuals and can reduce anxiety -- as well as facilitating relaxation and rejuvenation. The Pale Blue mister contains a relaxing mix of lavender, palmarosa, and marjoram essential oils.

For maximum relaxation, I assumed Child’s Pose on the blanket with a large supportive bolster arranged perpendicular to my body, under the knees. I also used a silk neck pillow, under the neck for added support. Finally, place the scented eye pillow over the eyes and place the palms down in their natural resting position, to help ground your body even more. For the best results, practice this pose combined with meditation for 15 minutes at a time. Super relaxing!


On the flip side, for a quick pick-me-up in 15-30 minutes, you can energize like I did -- first, I laid the same Heavy-Duty Mexican Blanket out, folded over twice. Grab a Large Silk Eye Pillow (Unscented) and placed it in a large plastic bag, and then in the freezer. It’s a good idea just to store your eye pillow in the freezer so it’s good to go whenever you need it, no planning ahead!. Make sure your eye pillow has been in the freezer for at least two hours before using it. Then, after removing your eye pillow from the freezer and then the plastic bag, I spritzed it twice with Conscious Color’s Turquoise Chakra Oil, made from an energizing blend of peppermint, rosemary, and juniper berry essential oils. These scents uplift the mood and will help purify, as well as energize, the entire body.

For a quick 15 minute perk up, lay on the blanket using the same props as above -- with a large rectangular bolster under the knees and a silk neck pillow to support your head. Place the cold, pepperminty eye pillow over tired eyes and lay in Corpse Pose. You can place the hands up facing towards the sky or over the heart chakra for added energizing benefits. The peppermint and rosemary will awaken your senses and give you a nice little caffeine-free boost to your afternoon.
