Why cutting yourself some slack is necessary

Posted by Devin McGlynn on 5/10/2013
We are often our own worst and harshest critic. Here are some reasons why it's imperative to cut yourself some slack.
  • If you are worried about making mistakes, you'll be harder on yourself and think that your mistakes are a bigger deal than they actually are.
  •  When was the last time you asked a co-worker or friend if what you said was harsh or if a mistake you had made was a big one? What did that person say? Often times, we think that we've made a bigger mistake than others do.
  •  You teach others how to treat you. If you are putting yourself down or talking negative about yourself, you are teaching others to do the same. Cut yourself some slack, relax, take a deep breath, and engage in some positive self-talk.
